ミルウィウス橋の戦い
312年のこの日、コンスタンティヌス帝(274-337)が、マクセンティウスをローマ郊外のミルウィウス橋で敗死させる。戦いのときコンスタンティヌス帝は天空に十字架（ラバルム）と「汝これに勝て」との文字が浮かんでいるのを見て勝利を収め、ローマに入城した。マクセンティウスは橋から落ちて溺死した。彼の２人の遺児は処刑され、彼に連なる者はみな殺害された。コンスタンティヌス１世は西ローマ帝国の単独皇帝となり、313年２月３日ミラノ勅令を発布。キリスト教会を公認し、禁教令を廃しする。(Millvio，ConstantinusⅠ、10月28日)
